Bill Halldin brings a wealth of experience to clients who need clear advice on critical communications issues.
Drawing on a 20-year background in corporate and government public relations as well as journalism, Bill specializes in media relations consulting for corporations and government agencies. Bill helps clients communicate often-complicated information clearly and effectively to the media.
Bill brings experience in managing communications for the nation's largest brokerage firm, Merrill Lynch & Co., and advising government officials on a variety of public policy issues, from consumer protection to antitrust to health care. Over the years, Bill has managed communications issues related to the Orange County, California, bankruptcy, the national settlement between state attorneys general and the tobacco industry, major employee litigation and the near-collapse of the hedge fund Long Term Capital Management.
Bill's experience includes:
- Advising Fortune 50 companies on a wide range of communications issues.
- Managing media relations for large, publicly traded companies and young, growing start-ups.
- Coordinating communications for a Lieutenant Governor, a State Attorney General and a gubernatorial campaign.
- Handling litigation public relations for large and small companies, including on-site media relations for two U.S. Supreme Court cases.
- Supervising the State Capitol Bureau of a major metropolitan newspaper and eight years as a journalist.
Bill works to effectively communicate with reporters and present information in a clear and concise manner. Bill has represented clients before major national business and general interest publications and major television and radio networks. Halldin Public Relations current clients include Merrill Lynch, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, American Technology Research, the California Partnership for Economic Achievement and the California Forest Products Commission.
Bill earned a Bachelor's in journalism from Northwestern University in 1984 and a Master's in Business Administration from Yale University in 1991.
He has served as an adjunct professor of communications studies at California State University, Sacramento. He is active in the community, currently serving on the boards of the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce, the Sierra College Foundation and the William Jessup University Community Relations Council. He is past president of the Sierra College Foundation (2004-2007) and past Chairman of the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce (2006).
